Feast or famine...

Ok, so last night I was supposed to have plans with my fwb. And she cancels (see my cancellations post...argh!) and says we can just do Saturday instead. I panic, cuz I've got a first date with a new chick. (Since we are fwb's, we are allowed to date others, in fact I get repeatedly reminded of that. So that is the rule, can date others, but if things get intimate, the fwb relationship ends. However, whenever my fwb finds out that I have a date with someone else, she flies off the handle. This is bad because I have to stay on her good side because I need her to watch my daughter 4 days this week while she is on Spring Break.)

So I'm out to lunch with my bff when I get the text from my fwb telling me about the switch to Saturday. My bff is laughing her ass off because now I have 2 dates for the same day! I tell her to stop laughing and ask her what to do. She says to just text back ok, cuz you know how she always cancels. Oh yeah, right! So I do that.

This morning I'm in a panic cuz I still have 2 dates. Around 10am my fwb texts to cancel. Phew! But then a half hour later my new chick texts to cancel cuz she has a sick kid. So now...I have no plans tonight and the kids are going to be at my ex partner's for the night.

Ok...stop laughing! Oh what a tangled web we weave...right? And now look...famine. Ugh!

Good news...bad news...

Ok, so no one bit on the good news bad news thing, so I guess I'll just tell you.

The bad news is, my daughter is not doing well, however, we were able to avert a hospital stay by making an emergency psychiatrist appointment Thursday. Ran her to the hospital for blood work so the doc could decide how to adjust her meds. Friday she adjusted her meds. Crossing my fingers that the med change works. The other bad news is that my daughter's spring break is this week, and her brother's isn't. That's bad news because...

The good news is...I start a job on Monday! Woo hoo! Yes, it's in my field. Can I get another woo hoo? The bad news is they kind of low balled me on salary, but this job has a lot of potential and they say I can expand my responsibilities and are willing to train me in other areas during their slow time. They said as my responsibilities expand, so will my pay. So definite growth potential.

My daughter can't really stay home alone when she's doing poorly. My bff has offered to watch her Tuesday because she is taking that day off because her kids are on spring break and she doesn't have a sitter that day. My fwb still doesn't have a job and is willing to take her the rest of the week, but that means I need to stay on her good side...which isn't easy. See next post.

...Cancellations

I have a question...why is it that a certain..."friend" seems to cancel 3 times before actually following through with plans? It has gotten to the point that I expect 3 cancellations and always try to have a Plan B in mind just so I don't have to sit at home alone on a kid-free weekend.

It's not really that I dislike spending all or part of a weekend alone, it's just that when it gets to be more than one weekend in a month, it gets to be a bit much. And goodness knows I need a break from my job search, even if it is just hanging out watching a movie or meeting up for coffee. If I'm home alone, I feel the need to constantly be on the computer with my job search, or doing something productive like updating my skills.

Spam (the lunchmeat) and Spamelot (the play) are good..spam just sux!

Ok, so...last week Thursday I did something really, really, really stupid. I responded to an instant message request from someone I did not know because I thought the person may have been a recruiter from a company someone had referred me to. (Note to self: nevah, nevah, evah do that again!) Since that woman was online at the time of the request, I messaged her asking how I knew her. I got no response.

Friday she was on during the day and I messaged her asking again. Again no response.

Friday after 6pm she had a chat status that said "horny and have a webcam". Ugh! Now I was pissed! I messaged her again asking how I knew her. She just responded with more things in the same ilk. I asked again and said if she didn't respond, I would block her. This is when she threatened me. She told me if I blocked her I'd be sorry.

Needless to say, I blocked her. And now I'm flaming angry. This bitch has been spamming my job search email every f'ng day for a week with nearly 100 spam messages a day and I'm getting 6-10 telemarketing calls on my cell phone, which is the number on my resume on CareerBuilder.com that I used on a resume that I made public. I immediately made all my resumes "private". Doesn't this bitch have something better to do with her time then sign me up for every f'n thing on the internet?

Because that is my job search email account, I have to look at the subject of each and every email to make sure it isn't from a company or recruiter that is legitimate, because obviously an email from someone new isn't in my contacts and may be sent to my spam folder. Do you have any idea how much time I am wasting on this every day? It's maddening! And because some recruiters and hiring managers call from unusual numbers, or block their numbers, I have to answer every f'n call! I literally jump every time my cell phone rings as it is. And no, I can't let any call go to voice mail if I can help it because with this job market if a hiring manager or recruiter doesn't reach a person, they don't need to waste time leaving a message, they can just hit the next resume.

I did live chat with the email service provider and the douchebag that responded told me to send all spam to be immediately deleted. I cannot do that and when I tried to explain why, the douchebag disconnected me from chat. Of course when I got the survey email on how that douchebag handled my problem, I slammed him. And of course I got nothing in response to said survey.

I called CareerBuilder.com and was told to forward a few of the spam emails and they would send them to their special unit that interfaces with the FBI. (Yes, she actually said "interfaces with the FBI!) So I forwarded 6 of the emails. Each one I forwarded I immediately got an email back asking me to research the header, that forwarding the email isn't good enough, and to find out how to do that, go to whatever site and look it up. F' that! Like I have time for that? CareerBuilder.com...are you paying me to do your work for you?

I can't change my email or my cell phone number because I've sent out a bajillion resumes. I figure there's no point in calling my cell phone provider since everyone else I have contacted on these issues has been so unhelpful.

So the moral of this story is:
1.) Nevah, nevah, evah put your resume on any job hunting website as "public". Keep it private!
2.) Nevah, nevah, evah accept an instant message request from someone you don't know.

Oh...one more thing...I went to bed at 3am (thank you insomnia!) and emptied out my spam box before I went to bed. I was up at 6am. It's now 7:30am, and I've already gotten almost 40 spam emails! Prior to last Thursday, I got only a handful of spam emails per week in my job search email account. That bitch who spammed me needs to get a life!

Update: The onslaught of spam emails slowed a bit over the weekend. When is this bitch going to get bored of this?

The post for another day...here it is...

So I heard about the school meeting. Turns out it lasted over 2 freakin' hours. Seriously? When I go to those things I'm in and out in an hour or less because that's the amount of time the teachers set aside for them. I respectful like that and I come prepared with a list of concerns and quickly address them as the school staff hits those topics. I'm still waiting for a callback for my separate meeting.

As to what's going on with you know who, the drama is about guardianship. He is all bent out of shape because I am to be listed as guardian and my ex partner is to be listed as alternate if anything should happen to me and I am not able to fulfill my duties as guardian. (Kind of like a beauty pageant runner up. Lol!) I believe the choices made are logical. My ex partner and I have been around since the onset of my daughter's illness and we spent the most amount of time with her and managed her medical care throughout. Also, my ex partner is a couple credits shy of a degree in psychology. I mean, you know who literally didn't see our daughter for 2 years because of an Order of Protection (OP), so you know who literally missed 2 years of her illness and has no clue about the day to day goings on with her illness. And the there is the obvious reason for not naming you know who...about a fox running the hen house. One of the other reasons is that you know who keeps talking about putting her in a group home. This is something that my ex partner and I are violently against. Group homes are nasty places where an impressionable, naive, immature person can learn all sorts of nasty things from the other group home residents. Stuff like drugs, alcohol, violence and sex. These places can be like the worst hospital in the area, which we have been lucky enough to avoid. Of course you know who had no idea how this group home would be paid for. Way to think things through!

You know who's big concern was about visitation. He wants it to continue beyond 18. I agree, unless we run into a situation of violating the OP. If that happens, I would of course take steps necessary to enforce the OP. The other concern you know who had was staying involved in her care. Meaning access to therapists, doctors and her progress. I told him that was easily resolved by having our daughter sign releases to give him access to these professionals.

This is causing me and our daughter unimaginable stress. I can see it in her and it is obvious. She is starting to do the ticks that are telltale signs that she he is having extreme anxiety. You know who is also complaining about the stress this issue is causing.

Yesterday text messages flew on the topic. My last message said that if you know who dropped the issue of fighting to be named alternate (which our daughter is very much against), that I would ensure visitation continues and that the appropriate releases would be signed. Also, in the event that I would not be able to fulfill my guardianship duties, my ex partner would file new guardianship papers with her as primary and name an alternate. That covers all bases, right? I figured that was an excellent bargain, don't you? Needless to say, I got no response. Maybe he's letting that marinate???

Criminy! I have enough stress in my life right now. I don't need someone manufacturing more stress.

Overwhelmed...

Between the job hunt and things going on with my daughter, things are seriously overwhelming here at the Lounge.

Yesterday I about hit rock bottom. I asked the imperial leader of the social group I belong to if I could post in the group asking anyone if they knew of any job openings, either themselves or through a family member or friend. She said NO. No reason given. But she did say I could post on her page. So I typed up what I thought was a great post.
(1) I listed my skills and experience and what type of job I was seeking.
(2) I added that if anyone in the group was also job hunting and wanted to do a coffee meet-up to discuss strategy, or if anyone worked in Human Resources and was willing to attend to provide advice.
(3) I also typed up that I was looking for ways to raise cash and suggested if anyone was interested paying me for services in any of the following to private message me:
I listed cooking a special meal (cuz you know I rock at cooking great dishes, and who wouldn't want a fabulous meal they don't have to cook or go out to a restaurant for?), handyman jobs (cuz I've got some mad handyman skills, I remodeled 2 bathrooms and my kitchen at my old house), typing, and carpet cleaning (I have my own carpet cleaner).
All 3 would not fit, so I had to break it into 3 separate posts. She deleted 2 posts saying that was "too much" and suggested I put my resume and services for cash on craigslist. No f'g way! WTF? WTF does she care? She found a job. It's just like when she is in a relationship, she refuses to host singles events. I'm not putting anything of the sort on craigslist where all the scam artists are. I want to network with people who are likely more to be more trustworthy. I mean, they are trustworthy enough for people to invite them into their homes for events, right? Damn I'm pissed!

And so far I have gotten a response from someone from the group who is hooking me up with a friend who is going to submit my resume to his boss who fills accounting positions for clients.

As to the other thing that's overwhelming me, I have to apply for guardianship for my daughter and you know who is giving me crap because I am listing someone much more appropriate as the alternate. There's a damn good reason why you know who wasn't chosen. You all know what it is. Seriously? WTF?

Not only have I been job hunting every waking moment, I've had a shitload of paperwork to fill out for different things, all having to do with my daughter. And the clock is ticking. There are not enough hours in the day to do all of this and I am not going to slack off on the job hunt. I have no income now for cryin' out loud! And I am still trying to do e-learning to update my skills so I am more marketable. I do that in between applications. The clock is ticking on that too, because I only have access for a certain amount of time. There are too many software programs I need to update my skills on and several I want to learn so I am more marketable.

Today I canceled an appointment and asked to reschedule because you know who was involved. I just can't deal with the stress of "that" involvement and they did offer me a separate appointment, so I'm taking it. And while I'm on the subject...I am damn tired of being called a bad parent by guess who? That's a whole post for another day.

The Name Game

I really had to think to come up with a name for this blog and a pseudonym. Of course I knew it had to be a gay reference, because so is my other blog. But then it came to me when I was at that house party/game night when I was writing the post in my head. (Come on! You know you do it too!)

The hostess (without the mostest...I still can't believe we weren't even offered water. What? You don't want alcohol? No beverage for you! - Soup Nazi reference), being that she's on the down low she uses a character's name from the L Word as her name in her social group. No, I'm not going to say which one, but suffice to say, the character in no way resembles her. So it came up in conversation (thank goodness, cuz I was tired of hearing all the down low stories) about what character from the L Word you think you resemble. I don't really think I resemble anyone, so I asked Mary what she thought and she immediately blurted out "Shane!" Oh come on now! I'm not a pick up artist like Shane, and I don't sleep around or do one night stands. I'm definitely not a female gigolo! Lol! But I guess I do see somewhat of a resemblance when I think about how charismatic and magnetic Shane's character was. Ok, and we have similar spikey, messy hair. Lol!

Shane Played By: Katherine "Kate" Moennig
From Wiki.sho.com
Personality Type: Quiet, relaxed, kind, reserved, loyal.
L Word(s) That Best Describes Shane: Lonely; Lady-killer; Legendary; Lovable; Loyal.
Signature look: Messy hair, androgynous, sultry.
Endearing Trait(s): Shane's undying devotion to her best friend Jenny, her unfailing loyalty to her other friends, her love for her brother and her desire to make everyone around her happy.
Annoying Trait(s): Keeps falling back into self-destructive patterns; self-medicates with sex and drugs.
Strengths: Highly observant and sensitive to other people's feelings and needs; a very attentive listener and peacemaker. Her willingness to try at love time and again.
Hangups: Shane is uncomfortable when people ask too many personal questions; has a great deal of trouble saying 'no' to people, even when she should; understands the concept of monogamy but has the tendency to feel stifled if not given adequate breathing room.
So that's where "Shane" came from. As for "Lounge", that was totally stolen from Cardiogirl. Snaps to Cardiogirl!

Desperate Housewives...The Not Ready For Primetime Version

I belong to an LGBT social group and I attend most of the events. Saturday night the group leader and I decided to attend an event that was held by another social group. The event was purported to be a house party/game night. We've held these in our group many times and they have been a blast. From playing board games, card games (even strip poker), Wii and Truth or Dare (via a Droid app.)

We arrived first, which we were not too thrilled about. The weather was poor, snow, and we were afraid we might be the only attendees. Eighteen women had rsvp'd to attend.

Shorty after we arrived other people slowly trickled in, and eventually we had 8 people before my friend and I left. Just as we were about to leave, 2 more people showed up, one of which we knew and begged us to stay, but we just couldn't take it any longer. Why could we not take it any longer? Here are the players in this episode:

Shane - Me
Mary - The leader of the social group who rode with me.
Brenda - In insurance sales. - She was one of only 3 real lesbians in attendance before we made a move to leave, other than myself, Mary, Donna, and Nancy.
Donna - She had a brain injury awhile back and consequently she has no filter. She just says whatever pops into her head, without filtering it to make it politically correct, or even polite.
Tina - Hostess of the party. Married, not yet divorced, husband no longer living in the home.
Emily - The hostess's girlfriend. Married, not yet divorced, still living with her husband.
Gail - She's a personal assistant. Married, not yet divorced, still living with her husband, though she claims to have been sleeping in separate bedrooms for 10 years.
Nancy - She is married to a woman, but apparently it's not going well.
Brandy - A member of our group who we know.
Kim - Brandy brought her as her guest. We didn't stay long enough to find out anything about her.

Brenda was constantly working while she was there, trying to drum up business for her insurance job. She also set up Tina, Emily, Gail, and me with her Linkedin profile claiming she had a bunch of recruiters on her page. She also got contact information from Nancy and hopes to sell her life insurance. (Ok, this is the boring part, keep reading...it get's way more interesting.)

Tina offers alcohol to all guests and keeps it free flowing. She does not however, offer any non-alcoholic beverages to Mary and I. I was driving, therefore not drinking, and Mary never drinks. We were dying of thirst by the time we left. All the snacks were salty, and every time one of us was going to ask Tina for a beverage, she was headed out to the garage with Emily. Definitely the rudest hostess I've encountered. How can you not offer all guests a beverage? But wait...there's more...

Tina and Emily leave the party numerous times for various lengths of time. Basically long enough to get it on, while us guests are trying to keep the conversation going and trying not to crack jokes about the length of their absence and what they may be doing. Yes, we all realize you probably don't get to see one another much, being on the down low and all, but then don't host a party if you're going to be continually sneaking off.

Tina met Emily at a school mommy group and became a couple on the down low fairly quickly.

Mary messaged me before I picked her up and told me that she found out the woman she broke up with, Anita, is now seeing Natalie, a member of our group. Anita and Natalie met at the Valentines bowling event when Mary was still seeing Anita. Major drama ensued when we got there because texts were flying the whole length of the party and all the guests got involved in the drama.

Then Donna arrives and explains her whole brain injury issue and she's constantly piping in inappropriate comments and asking inappropriate questions. Yes! Seriously!

Then Gail arrives and explains her situation and that she is a part time personal assistant for a very busy executive woman. Gail talked about how her ex gf wants to get back with her. Her ex gf, by the way, is her neighbor across the street from her, who...you guessed it...is married and still living with her husband and on the down low. Gail also talked about how she goes to all kinds of lgbt events and comes and goes from her home (where she lives with her husband) and that he doesn't have a clue that she's seeing women on the down low. Gail says she doesn't want to divorce her husband because he's paying for everything.

Nancy didn't talk much, but did say she was having problems with her wife again. All the rest of the guests knew her and groaned and told her she needed to find someone else.

Mary and I had no idea what to say in response to all of this and had a hard time keeping our jaws from hitting the table. Neither of us had been to an event where the guest's lives were so f'd up. Around 11pm I texted Mary asking if she wanted to go. She immediately texted "YES", and after we both used the bathroom (separately of course), I got up from the table and made excuses to leave. Just as we headed to the door Brandy arrived with her date Kim. Brandy begged us to stay because she figured we had good reason to be leaving so early (the party started at 9pm). But we just couldn't do it. Yes...we threw them under the bus! I learned today that they only stayed for an hour because they couldn't stand it either.

There were never any games played...unless you count all the games these women were playing with their husbands and children. All they did was drink (a lot) and tell their drama filled stories.

Update: Guess whose photo I saw on one of the online dating sites for lesbians last week?
...are you guessing?
Tina.
I guess she's on the double-down low. (On the down low with her husband and her gf.) And yes, she had checked it recently, the site gives the date of the last time a person signs into the site.
